Hi all! Today I'm linking up with
Sunny Days in Second Grade to talk about literacy centers! I'm so fortunate to have a lengthy workshop time during our ELA block to work with students in a small group setting every day. While I do have to use our Imagine It! curriculum for our small group/reteach lessons, I have the freedom to create/use any literacy centers I'd like for the rest of my kiddos working independently. :) Here are a few examples of some of the centers I offer as part our workshop time:
Each flexible group has a must do before they can get started with a literacy center. |
These are posted in the front of the classroom (noise level chart made by A Teeny Tiny Teacher). |
Mini chants that pertain to the Imagine It! unit we are currently on. |
I usually have a picture of that center so my visual learners know exactly what they need to be working on. |
Some examples of literacy activities my students can choose from |
Students love to use these as comprehension questions or prompts |
Big books are expository texts my students use as a read-aloud center to practice overall fluency, accuracy, pacing, and expression. |
What do literacy centers look like in your room? Link up and let us know about your amazing centers!
