5 For Friday/Friday Flashback, Parent Night & CST Field Day!

Loads of stuff going on...and no time to actually sit back and enjoy it all! :( I also won't bore you with another end-of-the-year countdown...although if you must know, it's 5 MORE DAYS!! I can already taste the sweet summer mojitos lemonade calling my name! 

Okay...back to the educational part of this post.

1) This week, we had our last parent night of the year where we get to meet next year's second graders. It's actually really cute seeing all the little firsties walk into our rooms and sit with their parents as we talk about 2nd grade expectations! Some students look absolutely terrified of us while others look at you with awe and wonder. I love meeting the newbies! They all look so sweet and innocent...except for that one student breaking all the crayons at the back of the kidney table. Besides that one kid...they all seem great. ;) Here's the ppt we used to give parents an overview of second grade life.
 






  
 Short and sweet. We also gave out resources for their kids to do over the summer break. Overall, it was a success!

2) Thursday was our CST Picnic Celebration. Now I know the CSTs were over about 2 weeks ago, but we promised our sweeties a picnic with fun stations to celebrate their wonderful work. My station was the breakfast pizza making station. They were so creative with their fruits and berries!

3) I began making my little pails full of resources for my kids. Hope King's Dig into Learning pails are WONDERFUL! I bought the pails at the Dollar Tree and the rest is in her pack. The games, centers, learning tools are just right for my kids and they love the fact that they are the ones making all of the stuff (not me...whew!!) Win-win! :) I also added Lyndsey Kuster's Ready Made for Third Grade resource pack to keep them even more engaged during the summer. Both are excellent resources!

4) I found out some sweet/sad news! I'll be teaching 3rd grade next year with an AWESOME group of girls!! SOOOOO excited about that!! Yet, that means I won't be working with my BFF at work since she'll be in another grade level too! WAHHHHHH!!!! She is seriously the best co-worker I've EVER worked with. We are like two peas in a pod. But, I am still thrilled to work with my new buddies! Here's to another adventure in 3rd!! :D

5) We had a fun date night at the Ford Theater listening to my hubby's favorite Italian composer, Ludovico Einaudi! The venue is small and intimate...feels like he's playing just for you!

    Thank you so much for sharing! I am new to 2nd grade, so forgive me if I ask obvious questions. What are your Imagine It! and social studies programs - are they text series, or units you have created? Love the simplicity of your slides. I am sure the parents appreciated all this information - to ease the anxiety of what's in store. Great idea!

      Imagine It! is the new Open Court published by SRA. We love it! The social studies program we use at my school is called CA Reflections by Hartcourt. Although since we've been trained in GLAD, we create and supplement A LOT of stuff for our units in SS. Thanks for your sweet comments!! :)

    I love the idea of having Meet the Teacher at the end of the year! Your slideshow is great and informative, I'm sure the parents LOVED it!

    oh my gosh, I always get excited to see when other bloggers use imagine it! I hope you will share your fabulous ideas that could spice up that curriculum a bit ;)
