Classroom Crafts Linky Party!

Today I'm linking up with Hadar, Teri, and April to share my little craft project!

I FINALLY made some seat crates for my 3rd graders! It took some time to get the plywood pieces cut and ready, but everything else was easy peasy. Here are the pictures of my new little seat crates and the step by step directions on how to create your own!

You'll need a few items to start your DIY project:
  • hanging file folder crates
  • fabric cut to fit over the plywood pieces from Jo-Ann's
  • plywood pieces cut to fit the inner lip of your crate
  • mattress padding cut to fit over the plywood pieces from Jo-Ann's
  • staple gun (Jo-Ann's)
  • ribbon (Jo-Ann's)
1) Once you have all those materials ready, you can start by laying the fabric, foam, and plywood piece like shown.

2) Start stapling the fabric to the board and tuck in the edges as if you were wrapping a present.

3) Once you've stapled all four sides, cut two pieces of ribbon to create your handles. Fold them in half and staple both strands to the sides of your board.

4) Insert the wood board into your crate (it'll be a snug fit) and you've just created your very own seat crate!

This project wasn't too difficult or time consuming once you've have all plywood pieces, fabric, and foam cut to the size of the board. Everything else is easy peasy, I promise!! Jo-Ann's had the beautiful fabric, ribbon, and mattress padding so I didn't have to drive everywhere to have my materials for this craft project. It also helps to be able to get a 15% teacher discount! :) Link up and share your craft!!
