Two days down, 178 to go!!! I seriously can't believe how long it's been since I last blogged. But let me tell you my friends, it's all for very wonderful reasons!
The first excuse reason is because I moved schools and am now working for an AMAZING school district closer to home! No more 1 hour commutes BOTH ways my friends! I'm seriously in love with my new speedy quick commute of only 10 MINUTES. That's right, 10 MINUTES. The caps are for emphasis people. Not for yelling. Although I am kind of shouting from all the excitement of my new commute. So yeah, it's no big deal that I get to drive a few miles to work...but does your commute involve the PACIFIC OCEAN at your doorstep?! And just in case you don't believe me because I've been shouting at you all this time and dropping caps all up on this bloggy, here is proof of my commute from heaven...
So reason #2 is linked to my new job. Getting a classroom ready for a new school year is really hard work. I don't have to go into details, cause I KNOW you know what I'm talking about. All month I've been seeing your beautiful classroom pictures and reveals and it was giving me MAJOR anxiety people. I wanted to start working on my classroom sooooo bad! So when I finally got my keys, I started right away. Here's what I walked into...
Not bad+lots of space+high ceilings+blank canvas=endless possibilities. Here's what I came up with a few days later...
Since I was loving my beachy commute and our school has an oceany mascot, I decided to decorate in the same fashion. I have another classroom reveal post coming soon where I'll talk more about Hope King's Gone Coastal decoration bundle. It seriously saved my life and was so beautiful!
Reason #3 for being a bad bloggy friend is because I was just not ready to post all about my move. I was still sad/fearful/overwhelmed from it all. Let me tell you my friends, it was a LONG and INTERESTING process. I can't go into all the details, but my one piece of advice before deciding to move/leave a school is to read your contract very carefully. Like be super-duper careful. Know your rights. All too many times we sign things without really taking the time to KNOW what it really means for you as an employee, and what the law says about it...but in the end, I am now where I needed to be!
My darling co-workers surprised me with a little send off and gave me the most beautiful flowers and signed picture frame! I'm going to miss them SOOOO much! :(
But we all have to do what's best for US and sometimes hard decisions have to be made. I'm not a fan of those moments, but I'm happy I put my big girl pants on and went for it! Wish me luck as I embark on a new journey in 3rd grade at a fabulous new school!!
I'm sorry this post was very one-sided...but I want to know...how is your new school year going??? Any of my bloggy friends move to another school/site?

You are an amazing teacher and I am so happy everything worked out! Sometimes the most difficult decisions end up being the best for you.

What a beautiful classroom! I smiled at your comment about your commute near the pacific ocean... I live in a different state, but I get to see the pacific ocean on my drive to and from work, too! I know how awesome it is! It never gets old, either! :) :)
ReplyDeleteExcited to be following your blog!

Your classroom is GORGEOUS. I LOVE all the colors so much. SO MUCH. :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your big move. Change is scary, but I'm glad it's the right thing for you! (Jealous of your ocean view!)
