It's Friday! Hallelujah! Anyone else just absolutely exhausted from their first week back? Yup. This girl right here! But all exhaustion aside, it's time I link up with
Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky!
I am SO excited to share with you my new and improved
Maps, Continents, and Communities Unit! It has over 30 pages of exciting and engaging social studies materials to teach maps, communities, and continents! Click on the image to check it out on my
TPT page! :)
Winner, winner! I won DJ Inkers' Weather Bears giveaway! I NEVER win anything, so I was
beyond excited when Dianne emailed me this adorable clip art set! What a
great way to end the week. :)
Wax museum time! Our 3rd grade team just assigned the *BIG* living wax museum project! All the kids have been looking forward to this since they were in 2nd grade! Now they get to be the lucky 3rd graders who participate in our school wide event! :) Can't wait to post pictures when it happens Jan. 24th!
Our district is getting fancy...implementing 1:1 technology plan where our class will get to pilot the Google Chromebooks for each student! Pretty exciting stuff! We get our class set in 3 weeks where each student is expected to take it home and bring it to class with them everyday! The educational world is changing people! Any teachers use these in their classrooms and have tips for me? Stay tuned for blog posts about 1:1 in my class!
Since my class will be diving into space related materials next quarter...a little sneak peek at what I'm working on next! Stay tuned for a SPACE UNIT! :)
And congrats to Kristen Kelly! You are the winner of my Maps, Continents, and Communities Unit! :) I'll be emailing you tonight! :)
I have been eyeing your maps unit...it looks fabulous! I may have to pick it up on my next TPT shopping trip ; ) Wow, I am so jealous about your 1:1 experience. I think that would be amazing!!! I can't wait to hear more about it.

I just started using the Chromebooks today, we got 2 from a Donors Choose proposal. It's all web-based so I'm sticking to our web-based math and reading intervention programs we use. You have to create a google account (I created one that's separate from my personal and TpT gmail account). Make sure it's easy for the students to remember to log in. My boyfriend played around the with settings last night and you can make it where they don't have to put in the password when the computer sleeps, etc. I highly suggest that. I bookmarked all our favorite websites and will be using it for that.
ReplyDeleteI just realized that each child will have an account. If I were you, I'd create them so you can monitor them and access them if needed. If they're taking them home, will they be abel to go on social media sites? I'd suggest looking into blocking those if possible.
Google Drive has amazing ways your students can word process, create power points, they can take tests you create on google forms, etc.
Have fun!
