Five for Friday!

I made it. Barely. Wow... I sound a little like my friend Juan Pablo. Eeek! Linking up with my fave Doodle Bugs Teaching for her Five for Friday linky!

Anyone else out of commission this week?! I got hit with a gnarly cold this week and it pretty much wiped me out most of the week. It was nice to know I was missed by my kids though...one parent emailed me to make sure I was feeling better because her son said to her, "Mom... I hope Mrs. Rossi is okay, we had a sub yesterday and it wasn't planned." HAHA! Love the attention to detail!
Teaching in the Tongass made me the most adorable mini! Of course a huge glass of wine water was missing, but hey...I can settle for a Kate Space purse too! ;) If you want a mini too, you can grab one here from her shop! Thanks, Jen!!
This week, we focused on inferencing as a skill and so I used Abby Mullins' fabulous mini lesson using my purse as a subject. After we defined inferencing in our interactive notebooks, I showed them my purse and began to pull out what was inside.  I explained to my sweet kids that they were going to make inferences about me based on what was inside my purse. They ooooohhed and squealed with delight! They were absolutely enthralled with being able to see what I had inside of my mysterious teacher purse. After pulling out what what inside, we did a quick writing activity where they drew two pictures of things I had in my purse with their inference about me. The two below were great ones! Apparently, I use gum to add flavor to my life! :) LOVE IT!
This week, we've been using my dear friend's, Jaime from Bright Concepts for Teachers Interactive Math Journals to practice our multiplication and division facts. I can't wait to show you ALL the great things inside it and what we've been doing with them in class! I'll leave you with a sneak peek and you'll just have to come back next week for a post on them!
Today, we used Schroeder Shenanigans in Second's Parts of Speech Scoot and it was JUST what my class needed on this glorious Friday! It was great for a quick review of all parts of speech and it gave my kids a chance to get up and move around the room. LOVED IT! You can grab it from her TpT shop here!

It's times like these I am SO thankful for all the wonderful teachers who are out there spending all that time creating and crafting amazing lessons and TpT products for me to use in the classroom! I am one grateful teacher! :)

  3. I stayed home on Tuesday due to a sore throat. I guess it's just that time of the year. I'm glad you are feeling better! I love the inferencing purse lesson. I remember seeing that a few months back. I should try it out with my 5th graders too.
